Virtual tour The wooden Church of the Assumption from Vorniceni

The wooden Church of the Assumption in the village of Vorniceni was built at the end of the 18th century. The church’s layout is three-part, with a polygonal altar (3.5 × 3 m), a square nave (5.5 × 5.5 m), and a square narthex (4.5 × 4.5 m). The nave is covered with a roof on an octagonal light drum. At the beginning of the 20th century, the church was raised and a stone foundation was built underneath. Thanks to the high plinth, the church gained a more monumental appearance. Its concise volumes and well-balanced harmony of the composition’s parts are expressive. In the interior, the nave looks solemn, enhanced by the high dome, especially in contrast with the low narthex. Thus, in both the exterior and interior, the main artistic emphasis is placed on its vertically open space.

Reconstruction of 2023

In recent years, the condition of the church has significantly deteriorated, and in 2023, its reconstruction began. The virtual tour was filmed two years before the reconstruction.
